Sri Lanka Day 3
So much for prophecies, there is still some finishing off work to do at the hospital and a little more paint to buy before we can call it finished. Then it is a tea party with the ladies before going to Netherlea Cottage in the afternoon. But I’ll hand over to the rest of the party for them to give you there thoughts.
“It’s been an amazing experience working at Ward 19. Seeing the conditions these women are living in has been difficult to handle but has given us great motivation to keep up the hard work.” Claire.
“Ward 19 has been very beneficial and has shown me a lot. It was quite a shock to see how many people are in the hospital but I hope we have made it better.” Victoria.
“It has been totally amazing working at Ward 19 the ladies are really nice and want to help us paint. They seemed to be pleased with what we have done. Our host families are nice and the food they have made us for our evening meal has very much appreciated.” Jean
“Working at Ward 19 is different than I expected, the women are friendlier than expected and for some reason they are fascinated by my legs. The company is great and there is a lot of banter floating about.” Peter.
“Tired, sweaty, dirty, happy. Meeting the ladies here at Ward 19 has been such an eye opener. I hope we can make a small difference to their living conditions. The generosity of our hosts and families has been tremendous.” Janette.
“Very enjoyable, rewarding experience. Totally different from our lives, making us realise the little help we can offer makes a big difference.” Emily.
“Really enjoying it so far. Covered in paint. Love the weather. The women are lovely. hard work is paying off.” Rebecca.
“What a tremendous team. Everyone has dealt with very different experiences extremely well. Al of that, as well as working very hard and laughing, smiling and eating lots.” Shona.
“Good experience fun, good weather, hot!! Getting covered in paint all the time.” Lucy.
That just about sums it up. It is hot and humid. The people are lovely. Our hosts are wonderful. And we are eating some great food.
