NZ Day 6 – Wednesday 21st September

Skype call home this morning to for my Mum’s birthday, which was yesterday with then but today with us -  know that doesn’t make sense but I am still getting used to the idea of being a whole 11 hours ahead.  Of going to bed as folks in the UK are in the middle of their day!  Then had to rush as I had a morning meeting with Ignite Sports guys.  These folk are pioneering sports ministries and looking to see where sports chaplaincy might lead as well.  Needless to say the meeting was over coffee and the blueberry muffins were to die for... who said I was motivated by food!
Sun was shining today and the sky was just about cloudless. So took the opportunity to walk up Johnson Hill behind the house here in Karori.  It might have been a walk but it was quite a stiff climb up through the forest on a narrow muddy path.  Tree ferns, wild avocado, lichen laden branches and epithytes abounded.  Yet coming out on the top it was more like a Scottish hill with gorse and dry scrub.  Fantastic views over Wellington, a city of hills surrounded by hills.  Knees feel quite weary now!
