One week! Yes, seven days in New Zealand I am feeling quite
at home. Another spell of being
available this morning then after lunch took the cable car from street level to
the top of the Botanic Gardens. After a
wander around Cable Car Museum and an ice cream, I walked up the hill to my
lodgings.
Australia versus USA game this evening. New Zealand really
is in party mode. Fancy dress is definitely the code for many folks. The family I am staying with all went to the
game and mostly opted to support USA as I think most Kiwis in the crowd did. The
Westpac Regional Stadium is an amazing ground with great facilities. The atmosphere was fantastic with the noise
bouncing around the inside of the “The Cake Tin”. Unfortunately the rugby was a bit one sided
with Australia being the clear winners. An
8.30pm kick off ends up with a late night by the time the crowd clear the grounds
and we got our bus home. Here is hoping
Sunday’s game is a bit more interesting.
